Neil, Rhys, Rod and I met at Rhys' house last night to discuss a wide range of issues relating to the team, most of which I raised as I felt there were matters to be discussed or items I needed clarification on.
As far as you the players are concerned, I can report that the following items were agreed and will be actioned : -
1. We are to have a second kit which will comprise another set of black shorts and socks but a different colour jersey [to avoid kit clashes]. A selection of 3 or 4 different colour jerseys will be suggested and open to player preference so watch this space.
2. We will be purchasing Bibs [2 different colours for training etc], Match Balls & Practice Balls and a Net to keep them in during game etc for security. We will also be buying Water Bottles & a Carrier. Also Pegs for nets and cones for training.
3. We will be buying a Medicine Bag with all the necessary contents such as bandages, plaster, ice spray, plenty of tape etc etc.
4. New Training venues are to be explored.
5. For 2007-08 season the Captain will be Rhys Williams with Rod Singh as Vice Captain i.e. no changes.
6. Manager's Team Policy is that I will always endeavour to select the best players available on day to win the match i.e. I will not be ensuring "everyone gets a game" that is not my philosophy. That said I have made it clear on our website previously that everyone of our 19 or so players has a part to play. We need a squad of players to get us through a season to cover for injuries, loss of form and unavailability so everyone is important. But I must make it clear to all that my starting line up for each game may not vary a great deal if the same players are available each week.
7. Player Registration. We will require all players who want to play for Baglan Church to complete a registration form with name, address, date of birth and phone number. Some of this info' will be passed to UCL to meet their registration requirements which are to be tightened up for 2007-08.
8. Conduct on the pitch. Players will be withdrawn by the Manager in cases of foul play or dissent on the pitch. You should all know my views on dissent particularly. It is pointless and an action which only disrupts our own game as minds are taken off the game and focussed on the argument etc. Other substitutions will take place during a game for tactical reasons, lack of effort or for a fresh pair of legs if players tire.
9. Rhys the Captain will arrange up to 4 Pre-season friendlies probably beginning mid August when goalposts go up on council pitches. We hope to arrange games with Brackla, Ammanford, Pontypridd and NCC.
10. Kit to be Laundered. For 2007-08 all our kit is to be taken to a launderette to be washed each week. It is not right that Rhys or at least his wife has to do this each week in her own washing machine. The upshot of this is that there may be a slight increase in subscriptions to cover the cost.
11. Recruitment. We need to boost our squad with more decent players if we are serious in trying to challenge for promotion next season. This is down to you lads if you know any of your mates who fancy playing for us. You will need to spesak to Rhys or myself if you know of anyone but they will need to come to Thursday training so we can see what they can do. One point lads - please don't suggest any dummies, we need decent players only.
12. Player Availability. It would be a great help if you lads posted on the website by no later than Thursday evening before a game as to whether you are available on Saturday for selection or not. This will help me a great deal if I have to call in reinforcements such as Neil who will be generally not available much next season.
I think that's all the matters that are likely to affect you guys. I will be in touch again when I have more info on jersey colours to chose from etc. Oh, two things we did discuss but decide NOT to proceed with were names on jerseys and buying new nets. It was decided that the practicalities were too difficult to manage, sorry lads.
If anyone has any question on this note or football related then I am always happy to reply.

That sounds far more professional already, well done guys. On the player front i may know someone who wishes to play in goal, i'll check this out further. On the training front, have you got any specific plans or practices to improve us. Also perhaps we should have a separate day for fitness, ie jogging down the beach every monday etc

Liam Gregory mentioned playing in goal, he was pretty awesome for our 5-a-side team. We could try him out and see how it goes

Liam, answer to 1) is sort of as we haven't finalised anything yet but it was discussed. Answer to 2) is when I get some free time to do some research on internet in order to obtain value for money. As we have a number of items we want to buy we have to ensure we make the money go a long way.

Liam Gregory is better in defence I reckon, but a very good 5-a-side goalie. I'll have to ask him to play for my 5-a-side team. As for training, I have a ligament injury and the doctor says I won't be able to play football for 6-8 weeks, it looks hideous at the moment. On a brighter note, I think I'll be able to play on Saturdays next season and work on Sundays instead
